On Feb 4th & 5th 2012 at Lake Karapiro some of the world’s best GP Hydroplanes and drivers lined up for their shot at the 2012 UIM World GP Hydroplane Championship. The race was featured seven boats, five from New Zealand and two overseas visitors; Renegade from the USA and GP1 from Australia. The boats competed in four races over the weekend, two heats on Saturday and one on Sunday with the final race held at on Sunday afternoon. As the final got underway, it was 'GP1' driven by our very own Grant Harrison in pole position that hugged the buoy at the first corner. Followed closely by Marty Wolfe in his boat Renegade from the USA who had to take a wider line at the first turn, Grant was able to accelerate down past the crowds in the stands and extend his lead. Warwick Lupton, though up with the leaders at the first corner took a wider line and lost valuable time. Holding on to the lead into the second turn Grant accelerated away to win the 2012 GP World Championship. They say every picture tells story, so this is just a glimpse into the GP1 2012 World Championship Story....
Well done to Grant and the team, the guys all work tirelessly towards the goal, on the day they made it look easy..... which is something winning teams tend to do.. and they are a winning team, a world winning team! YAHOOO! :)

The 2011/12 GP Hydro season will be significant one, not only is it the 100 year anniversary of the E.C. Griffith Trophy but Grant is keen to head back to New Zealand and once again return motorsports longest running trophy to our shores. It was back in 2004 when Grant first wrested the Cup from those dastardly Kiwis and he wants it back again! On his return from 2004 World Championships Grant was honoured to have the opportunity to speak to the Hawks player group about commitment & teamwork, this just prior to their inaugural Kokoda Trek. Pictured is his 2004 World Cup winning boat GP101 with then Hawks Captain Sam Mitchell. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fundraising - May 2011 CLICK HERE to view the invite for a trivia night of fun and frivolity in our Melton Toyota showroom. Toyota Excellence Awards - April 2010 Melton Shire Business Awards - March 2010 |

On April 6th we hosted the RDFL’s 2011 Season Launch, I can now safely report, it was a great night. With excellent representation from all clubs there was around 100 people in attendance. Melton Toyota have long been supporters of Grass Roots Footy and we were honoured to play host for the evening
t was a star studded Gala event and our own Leigh Evans was never far from the action. Having said that our entire management team were in attendance and anxiously awaiting the outcome of the evening.
Melton Toyota is a regular supporter of this event and this year we donated in excess of 350 plants to the Friends of the Melton Botanical Gardens and Friends of Toolern Creek. Both Groups are doing incredible work in our area and can always do with more help. If you appreciate the work they are doing beautifying our community and providing healthy and natural for our native animals and birdlife then please get in contact with them they would greatly appreciate any time or money you can spare. Every bit helps; the links are on our site.
It's that time of year again, when Toyota celebrates the dealers who achieved Excellence in the previous Year. We are delighted to have received the inaugural Southern Region Talent Excellence Award. Particularly as this award is all about investment in the team and staff 'engagement' which really means staff positivity, so of course we'd win this one! However the greatest achievement must go to our Parts and Accessory team who took out the National Silver Award. This is the first time in 37 years Parts have achieved Silver recognition. Well done to Brad and his team. And finally just because he does it every year, don't go thinking the Bronze Award in Service is easy, we really do have a sensational service team!
As winners of the Shire Business Awards for the 3rd year running we were honoured as the inaugural inductees into the Melton Shire Hall of fame. Joan & Keith, Grant & Gayle along with our department managers and their partners were all there to celebrate the occasion.
